Challenge of the Month!  We’re excited to announce a monthly challenge held at the box.  Each month we’ll announce a new challenge, which will be a short test of fitness that anyone can try as many times as they want throughout the month.  We’ll post scores on a whiteboard in the gym, and men/women winners will be announced at the end of the challenge and given a prize!  May’s Challenge of the Month is – Max air squats in 2 minutes.

  1. Mike S May 03, 2010 / 2pm

    10:32. 70# Snatch, Rx Pullups.

This was a terrible workout for me. I’m still trying to string together all the movements in the snatch. That combined with trying to go fast frustrated me because I missed about 8 snatch attempts during the WOD.

  2. Jessica S May 03, 2010 / 8pm

    15:50 43# snatch, blue band pull-ups

This was a tougher WOD than I thought it was going to be. The snatch is a tricky movement, no wonder why Tyler never let us do them in Minneapolis.

  3. Ian S May 03, 2010 / 9pm

    15:30 (i think)
    75#
6 real pullups then the blue band

75% of my snatches were not power snatches. So that felt nice.

Chest to bar pullups were bad. Even with the blue band I could barely do 1 at a time towards the end.

I also struggled and became flustered. I was so pumped to do this WOD after completing the Murph challenge on Saturday, but struggled very early on.

For a brief moment I doubted my ability and had thoughts of giving up (which is unlike me) suddenly I was surrounded by trainers to assist and motivate. I made it through, slowly but surely. Thanks trainers. I anticipate we’ll see snatch squats again.
