Dead Hang Pull-ups

For Total Reps:

10 Minutes – HSPU
5 Minutes – Squats
2 Minutes – Pull-ups
1 Minute – Push-ups

    Fun workout today; good recovery after my run yesterday. Great seeing the 5:30 peeps….my xfit faves!

    Good workout to come back to! 530am is the JAM!

    230 reps with much scaling. Not too far behind when we did this back on 02.03.10. Glad I didn’t lose everything in my month off!

    Can we do kipping HSPUs?

    Hey Jess,

    TQ Here. Yes, you can do kipping HSPU. But try – at least at the beginning to go for broke on strict HSPUs first. When you do transition, be sure that your back isn’t hyperextended when you drive. Try to keep a nice hollow position. The reason for this is to avoid loading the spine with too much sheer force. By keeping the shoulder and hip stacked on top of each other (as in, by maintaining a hollow), you keep the loading in a compressive state which is going to be much better for the spine, long term. So if you feel yourself really sagging out of position through the middle, take some time to rest before getting back on the wall.
