This is going to come off snotty and I’m complaining, and I really don’t mean it to be…really! really! But what is the benefit of bear crawl? It seems like we do A LOT of it, in warm ups and in work outs…This is really an honest question…i promise…
@ Whiney Jackie:
I’ll answer your questions with my own questions.
1) do you find that bear crawls effectively warm you up i.e. raise heart rate, open hips, mobilize and lubricate shoulder joints?
2) When was the last time we programmed bear crawls? … And before that?
In any healthy debate, it’s wise to only ask questions you already know the answer to. So, in this case, I’m fairly confident that the answers will be yes, bear crawl is effective as a warm up, and that it was last programmed over a month ago. 1 workout out of 35 (and that’s generous in my opinion as far as the frequency is concerned) isn’t anything to worry about… is it?
Nothin’ but love.
tq
I knew i would come off as whiney…dammit. I really wanted to know…really.
But lubricate my joints and opening my hips?? A lady such as myself wouldn’t talk about such a thing…you made me blush.
Btw, xoxo…you’re great! I LOVE CROSSFIT!
Maybe we can hold a Bear Crawl Workshop?
I’m not suggesting I would go to it, because I wouldn’t. However, it may help some people understand the Natural Movement of such a maneuver.
Perhaps.
I LOVE bearcrawl!!
Maybe CFSP will send me to a free workshop where I can work on my natural bear crawl movements…oh…wait….
haha
Jackie and Brock: the seminar you’re looking for is called MovNat. Look it up.
Furthermore, shut up and do it.
Tyler…duh!
Jackie and Brock win.
“it’s an exercise for performance and building a rugged
type of body in a short period of time”

This guy sounds like the real deal…
Thanks Dan!
“Plain and simple Bear Crawls will build a rugged body. Bear Crawls
are a forgotten secret that will bring about a primitive type of strength
throughout the entire body.
Bear Crawls will humble the so called fit person. Bear Crawls go so
far beyond what most other exercises can do. Bear Crawls are a
complete body ripper.”
This is all I wanted to hear!
Don’t forget the snatches, Jackie. Today’s workout includes increased heart rate, open hips, lubrication and snatches. Just what kind of gym *is* this?!
You’re welcome Jackie for giving you the rugged body you’ve always wanted.
i feel like i shouldn’t be reading this at work…
Hello Friends,
CrossFit St Paul & CrossFit Minneapolis passed the 300 member mark last month! As most of you know our only form of advertising is all of you telling your friends and families about your training with us and encouraging them to “just try it”, and your referrals have helped us reach this amazing benchmark in less than three years.
We can’t thank you all enough for your positive attitudes, consistent dedication to bettering yourselves, and support of something that started out as nothing more than a few pieces of equipment and a dream. Our owners are reminded that we chose the best careers in the world every day we lead a class. As a very small token of thanks we’ll be providing Mary Kosir’s Date Me Bars and coffee during classes tomorrow. Thanks, and here’s to many more years of excellence!
175 on the complex (great coaching on Tyler’s part… helped me get 185 but not as a complex)
8:34 on the WOD I believe.
Coming in late on the Bear Crawl forum. I was a skeptic myself until back in December, in El Salvador, exploring the Santa Ana volcano, my son decided to go off the foot path and crawl directly up the side of the volcano with his old mom in tow.
Bear crawl = life in motion. It proved to be practical training.
That said, I’m not bear crawling today.
We love Jackie.
