Tuesday – 050812 – Tabata, in a way…

May 7th, 2012 by tkquinn

Matt P. and Michael M. working hard and resting, respectively...

Using the Tabata format (20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest), complete:

100 Pull-ups
50 Burpees
100 Squats
50 KB Swings (72/53)

Athletes will do as many Tabata intervals as necessary to accumulate the required number of reps for each movement. Athletes will not progress to the next movement until they have completed all the reps from the movement they are on.

Post thoughts and times to “comments”.

Find a pace by knocking a specific # out everytime. Makes the goal seem more achievable by chipping away. Fun 5:30 group this am!

Isn’t Murph coming up this weekend?…this seems like a good warm up. :)

    WoD: 28 intervals Rx
My goal was to get under 30, and 25 would be VERY impressive for this WoD if anyone can achieve that. With a tabata style WoD it’s important to utilize the full work time to your full capacity, rest briefly, and be ready to go immediately when the next interval begins. That 72# KB is heaVY at the end of this one, utilize the hip drive because your arms and shoulders will be very fatigued at that point. 630 crew had some really good scores this morning, well done.

    WOD: 38 rounds Rx
pullups: 6-10 per round [This seemed to go on FOREVER!]
    burpees: 5-6 per round
    squats: 10-12 per round
    KB: 8-9 per round

I lost my focus during the pullup section. Harder to find a groovy pace on pullups than the other movements.

10 rounds and a half for pullups
9 rounds and a half for burpees
    7 rounds of squats
8 rounds of stupid kettle hell

Oh yeah, I did this wod 10 minutes after I did the wod from yesterday. I suppose that counts for something.

    WOD: 37 rounds Rx
KB swings sucked just as much as I thought they would……

    43 rounds
I think I went about 6 rounds without a band for pull ups, got about 50 reps, and things went downhill from there. I started wandering aimless through the gym after the burpees.
    good stuff
