Fight Gone Bad 5!

On Saturday, September 25, CrossFit affiliates from around the world will participate in the 5th annual Fight Gone Bad Fundraiser where we’ll do the classic benchmark workout. All proceeds from this great event will go to the Wounded Warrior Project, LIVESTRONG, and the CrossFit Foundation.

We’ve set a $5,000 target for CFSP, which we believe we can meet easily if everyone participates and gets their friends/families to participate. Paleo Challenge!

PALEO CHALLENGE FINISHING LOGISTICS - Participants have 3 options to take their After pictures – 1) Come in this Saturday between 9-10:30am and have either Tyler or Stephanie take your photos, 2) Come in this Sunday between 9-11am (Stephanie will be there from 9-10 to take photos & Tyler or Chris from 10-11), or 3) Have someone take the photos for you.
If you have someone take the photos for you – have them taken from 6′ away with the camera about 3 feet off the ground in a well lit room.  Pictures are 1) full body facing the camera, 2) full body with left side facing camera, 3) full body with back facing camera, 4) waist up facing camera.  Email photos to info@crossfitstpaul.com before end of day Sunday, the 22nd.  REMEMBER TO WEAR THE EXACT SAME CLOTHING YOU TOOK IN THE BEFORE PICTURES!

Once we have all the pictures, coaches will select top 5 men & women, and bring printouts of the pictures to the box for voting.  Voting times are between 7-7:30am and 5-7pm on Tuesday the 24th & 7-7:30am and 5-7pm Wednesday the 25th.  We’ll announce the winners on Thursday the 26th.  Only participants will be able to view the photos, please make your best effort to come in and vote during these times.

The following Saturday at 10am we’ll have one last info session covering ways to keep up a 90% paleo lifestyle, answer questions, etc.  The food journal document & recipe document will stay live so those who want to keep logging their food and can keep it up, especially if you want one of the coaches to take a look and make recommendations.

The CFSP Paleo challenge is a month long contest where participants follow a strict paleo diet for one month with the support of their fellow CrossFitters with the ultimate goal of improving overall health, performance, and appearance.

HOW IT WORKS – Participants attend a kickoff meeting on Saturday, July 24th at 10am, where CFSP coach Mike Jones will give a one hour lecture and Q&A on the theory behind the Paleo diet, how to follow it, and tips for maximizing results.  Before the lecture all participants will take 3 before pictures.  Weekly check-in meetings will be held every Saturday at 10am during the challenge to answer questions about how to maintain this diet throughout the month. (There will be a make-up kick-off meeting Monday, July 26, at 6pm for anyone who can’t make it Saturday, but please try to make the Saturday meeting if at all possible).

Participants will be encouraged to maintain an online food journal that all participants can review and utilize for ideas about what to eat.

All participants will take 3 after pictures by Saturday, August 21, and the CFSP trainers will pick the top 5 men & women based on photes.  All participants will meet on Sunday, August 22 at 10am, for a finale where we’ll vote for the top 2 men & women.  All photos will remain private and only the top 5 men & women’s photos will be viewed on paper at the gym at the finale.

WHAT CAN I WIN? – We’ll have a 1st & 2nd place male & female winner, prizes are as follows:

1st place – 1 month free unlimited membership at CFSP, 1 Hour massage, cash prize
2nd place – $50 credit towards membership at CFSP, cash prize
Cash prize amount will be determined at the kickoff meeting, and will be based on the amount of participants, less expenses for us to run the event (we won’t be taking any profit on this event, just covering our expenses) so the more participants we have the greater the cash prize!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A MONTH OF PALEO EATING? – Improved body composition (fat loss), increased energy throughout the day, reduced joint pain, better sleeping, improved blood work, mood regulation.  Seriously, many of these benefits, if not all of them are experienced by most people who adopt this way of eating for a significant period of time.

WHAT DO I WEAR FOR THE PHOTOS? Women wear a sports bra and fitted shorts, men wear shorts and no shirt.

I HAVE TO TAKE A PHOTO LIKE THAT?  REALLY?  Yes, this is the best way to choose a winner based on the experiences of CrossFit gyms around the world.  The only people who will see these photos are those who are participating in the challenge, so they’ll be on display too.  And we’re all friends here who only want you to be healthy and happy, so there’s nothing to be concerned about.

WHAT IF I’M ALREADY LEAN?  People who are close to their ideal body composition can still have dramatic results with a month of strict paleo eating, and will still look very different after the challenge even if they only lose a few pounds of fat.  More important than the appearance benefits are the performance and health benefits.

CrossFit St Paul Bootcamp!

St Paul Location - Mon/Wed/Fri, 7-7:45am from September 6-October 15; Merriam Park Rec Center/CFSP Facility

CFSP bootcamp is for people looking for fast results in a 6-week program. Workouts are short, intense, and fun, and can be scaled to any individual’s physical abilities.

CFSP bootcamps use the CrossFit methodology of constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity to quickly build strength and endurance while promoting fat loss. This class focuses on bodyweight exercises, high repetition weightlifting movements, and metabolic conditioning without the complex barbell lifts used in regular CrossFit classes.

Classes will meet at the Merriam Park Rec Center until it becomes too chilly/dark, and then will move into the CFSP training facility.

Rates are $169 for the 18 session St Paul Bootcamp.

CrossFit Kids!

We’re excited to announce the launch of our CrossFit Kids program!  CrossFit Kids is not simply a scaled down version of CrossFit, it is entirely absolutely CrossFit geared and designed for a special population and the specific developmental needs of that population.  In addition to developing proper movement and building functional fitness, CrossFit Kids seeks to associate fitness with fun by integrating games and competition into each class that will instill a lifelong love of fitness in our children.

CrossFit Kids classes are open to kids age 5-12, are 30-40 minutes long, and meet Tuesdays @ 4:00pm and Saturdays at 9am.  Class rates are $45 per month for CFSP members’ kids and $65 per month for non-members’ kids.  Each additional kid in a household is $10 off that rate.  Additional class times will be added as classes fill up!

First class is free, so if you’re interested in enrolling your kids into this great program all you have to do is email us at info@crossfitstpaul.com to let us know which class you’d like to attend!

September Fundamentals Classes

Our next Fundamentals Classes are scheduled for the following dates:

September 6th - Evening Fundamentals – Starts Monday, September 6, and meets Mon/Wed/Fri @ 6pm for 2 weeks, followed by 2 weeks of unlimited group classes.

September 13th - Morning Fundamentals – Starts Monday, September 13, and meets Mon/Wed/Fri @ 6am for 2 weeks, followed by 2 weeks of unlimited group classes.

September 27th - Evening Fundamentals – Starts Monday, September 27, and meets Mon/Wed/Fri @ 6pm for 2 weeks, followed by 2 weeks of unlimited group classes.

Fundamentals teaches the core moves used in CrossFit in a small group setting, allowing for greater individual coaching and a way to ease into the intensity of the group classes. Fundamentals is a four week program consisting of 6 small group sessions, followed by 2 weeks of unlimited group classes.  There is no prerequisite fitness level for Fundamentals and no commitment to continue training with us after the initial 4 weeks.  Class size is limited to 6 people.  Email us at info@crossfitstpaul.com for more information, or if you’re ready to sign up click here to register online!

Free Open House Workouts Every Saturday @ 10am

Our Free Open House Workouts every Saturday at 10am.  This is an introductory workout where we’ll teach a few commonly used exercises and go through a short, moderate intensity workout using those exercises.  This workout is a good chance for people who are interested in CrossFit but want to try it out before making the commitment to starting with us.  Trainers will be available during and after the workout to answer any questions about our program.  People of all fitness levels welcome!  Please RSVP to info@crossfitstpaul.com if you plan on coming.
